Anthony Hoff,

Background:
Anthony was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area. After moving to Provo, Utah and then Lubbock, Texas for his education, Anthony and his family have settled in Cedar City for the long haul. Anthony enjoys life with his three daughters and amazing wife, including bike rides, dance parties, swimming, and escapades to the various parks. A musician in his youth (singing, piano, and organ), he is most recently growing into several creative endeavors including woodworking and drawing. Anthony is energized by helping others find healing and growth amid life's challenges.
Education and Work Experience:
Anthony earned a B.S. in family studies from Brigham Young University in 2020 and a M.S. in couple, marriage, and family therapy from Texas Tech University in 2022. Anthony began practicing therapy in 2020 at Texas Tech University as a graduate student and has worked with individuals, couples, and families in private practice, residential treatment, college mental health, and community therapy locations. Anthony is currently licenses as an associate marriage and family therapist in Utah and Texas. Anthony has completed various training courses including dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), brainspotting, collaborative assessment and management of suicidality (CAMS), trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT), and more.
Anthony is gifted in connecting and working with couples, teens and their families, and young adults (college mental health). He has six years of volunteer experience with pre-teens and teens, and worked in residential treatment with teens for 9 months. Anthony served weekly over four years facilitating addiction recovery meetings, including two years in a compulsive sex group.
Therapy Approach:
Anthony excels (specializes) at working with couples with communication, relational or other challenges. Anthony also excels at working with teenage clients and their families, or with clients facing the impact of trauma. Further, Anthony is confident in assisting individuals in healing from the impact of compulsive sexuality or sexual addiction, whether individually or in a couple dyad. Finaly, Anthony has general experience in assisting clients with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges.
Anthony brings a thoughful, calm, and caring presence to therapy. He offers a strenghts-based perspective and utilizes systemic, humanistic, attachment-based, and client-centered therapeutic approaches. Anthony operates from a combination of cognitive, emotion-focused, and behavioral interventions, depending on client-specific needs, age, and assessment. These interventions come from various therapeutic modalities including emotion-focused therapy, family systems theory, dialectical behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strategic, and narrative therapy among others.
