April Monroe,
Licensed Nurse Practitioner

Background:

April lives in Cedar City with her husband and three children. Originally from Sandy, Utah, she moved to Cedar City to attend college and fell in love with the small-town atmosphere, but more importantly, the community and the people. She has a passion for providing the highest quality of care while developing lasting client relationships. In her spare time, April enjoys attending her children's various sporting events, watching football, reading, and traveling.

Education and Work Experience:

April completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree from Southern Utah University in 2010 and later completed additional training to become a certified pediatric nurse. She has spent the last 15 years at a primary care pediatric office where she helped develop the clinic's mental health program. The lack of mental health providers in her community inspired her to return to school and receive her Master of Nursing degree from the University of South Alabama. She became a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in February. During her training she gained work experience at Families First Pediatrics, St. George Regional Hospital- Adult Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, and Primary Children's Medical Center- Child and Adolescent Inpatient Behavioral Unit. Throughout this time, She had the privilege of working alongside multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, formulate individualized treatment plans, and deliver psychotherapeutic interventions.

Therapy Approach:

April enjoys treating patients throughout the lifespan but has a special interest in providing mental health care to children, adolescents and young adults, and women in the peripartum and postpartum period. She is committed to fostering a collaborative approach to patient care that prioritizes both patient preference and holistic well-being. April provides a conservative/evidence-based approach to medication management and strives to work with her clients to find a treatment that is both effective and comfortable for them.
