Bonnie Stewart,
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern

Background:

Bonnie Stewart is an Idaho girl at heart. As a young girl growing up in Soda Springs, she spent her free time riding her bike on the trails across the road from her home. The youngest of four children, she loved to be outside, exploring the volcanic flows and sage brush of Southeastern Idaho. Her passion for the outdoors continues into her adulthood. Together with any numbre of her beloved seven children, she can be found mountain biking, road cycling, hiking, backpacking, and camping. Bonnie is an ardent lover of eclectic music, a devotee and teacher of yoga, a fool for rock hounding and collecting, and a poet at heart. Her ultimate life goal is to publish her poetry and write books. Her most cherished title is that of "Gigi" to her three grandchildren.

Education and Work Experience:

Although she started college with the expectation of graduating, it was not until four ofher seven children were raised and married that she completed her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with an epmphasis in Addictions from Purdue Global University. Shorty thereafter, she bagan work on her dual Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. She proudly graduates with this dual degree the summer of 2025 and splits her time advocating for youth as a high school counselor and working as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern. 

Therapy Approach:

Bonnie believes in the power of understanding and connection. The therapeutic space she creates is grounded in trauma-informed practices that support the marginalized, witness the struggles of life, and honor the sacred journey in which each human being is engaged. Using a mindful, client-centered framework, she cultivates an environment of healing, learning, and hope. She is passionate about understanding trauma and its influences on the human spirit, nervous system, and body. Additionaly, she integrates into her practice Internal Family Systems, Polyvagal, Existential, and Humanistic Theories.
