Dillon Tanner,
PMHNP-BC
Background:
Dillon grew up in Spanish Fork and has always appreciated the strong sense of community that comes with living in the area. That appreciation for connection and relationships led him to raise his own family in the same community alongside his wife of 10 years and their two children. When he is not working, Dillon enjoys spending time with his family outdoors and taking advantage of any opportunity to be near the water, whether that means swimming, fishing, or paddleboarding. When the weather doesn't cooperate, his family can often be found playing card games or watching a few episodes of Bluey together. In his personal time, he enjoys playing golf, studying chess, and watching Star Wars movies.
Education and Work Experience:
Dillon earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Weber State University before completing his Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Psychiatry at Gonzaga University, becoming a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. He began his psychiatric career as a registered nurse at the Utah State Hospital, where he developed a passion for mental health care while working with individuals experiencing severe and complex psychiatric conditions. During his graduate training, he completed clinical rotations in both outpatient and inpatient settings, providing care to children, adolescents, adults, and older adults. These experiences allowed him to develop skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management. He is committed to providing care that is individualized to each persons unique needs and goals.
Therapy Approach:
Dillon's approach to treatment is guided by a principle he learned at Gonzaga 'cura personalis', meaning 'care for the whole person'. He believes that effective mental health care requires understanding not only symptoms, but also the relationships, experiences, and life circumstances that shape each individual's well-being. He has a particular interest in working with adolescents and young adults, recognizing the unique challenges as individuals navigate relationships, identity, academic pressures, social expectations and life transitions. Dillon values a collaborative approach and works closely with patients to ensure they understand their diagnosis and available treatment options. Whether treatment involves medication, therapy, life-style changes or a combination of approaches, Dillon is committed to walking alongside each patient and helping them find a path toward improved well-being and lasting success.
