Jacob Harp,
Associate CSW
Background:
Jacob grew up in a fast-paced military family, relocating eight times during his childhood before settling down and planting his roots firmly in Utah. Moving so frequently taught Jacob from a young age how to adapt quickly and connect deeply with people from all walks of life, giving him a unique ability to understand, respect, and work with a wide variety of backgrounds and life perspectives. He is proud to serve his community by helping to make quality mental health services accessible, adaptable, and welcoming to everyone. In his free time, Jacob is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys fishing, camping, and barbecuing on his Traeger grill. He also has a keen interest in exploring economic theory and business trends.
Education and Work Experience:
Jacob earned his Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. He brings five years of rich experience in the behavioral health field, working with a wide range of individuals across the lifespan. His clinical background spans pediatric care, neurodivergent populations, and adult treatment settings. Throughout his career, Jacob has successfully supported individuals navigating a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, anger management, trauma, and substance use. He has extensive experience conducting comprehensive clinical evaluations, designing tailored individual treatment plans, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to help clients achieve stable, fulfilling lives.
Therapy Approach:
Jacob believes in taking an evidence-based, collaborative approach with his clients to help them recognize and utilize the strengths and resources that they already possess. He places a primary clinical emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help individuals navigate the complex connections between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. To ensure care is fully tailored to each individual's unique journey, Jacob also seamlessly integrates Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Informed principles. He holds a deep belief that genuine empathy, safety, and trust form the absolute foundation for lasting healing and personal growth, and he feels incredibly lucky to be a part of each client's journey.
