Background:
Kip has been married for 38 years and has three adult children. His hobbies include oil painting, playing sports, and creative writing. His art has been featured in mnay publications related to the work of JRR Tolkien.
Education and Work Experience:
Kip has an extensive background in treating general psychological issues including anxiety, depression, phase of life issues, eating disorders and parenting struggles. He is the author of The Frogbuster: a Girl's Guide to the Dating Swamp and The Parenting Handbook: A Step-By-Step Research-Based Guide For Connecting With And Raising Happy, Successful Kids. He has worked in a variety of settings and especially enjoys helping those who are trying to reconcile the creative process and mental health.
Therapy Approach:
Life can get very difficult and we often need help. Among the most courageous things we can do is to ask for that help. I try to honor the impulse in people to improve and grow and take a no shame approach. Many people have helped me and I want to be available to help others. I also believe that people have a long history of overlooking their ow success and try to take what has been called a "solution-oriented" apprach. I believe most people who seek therapy have often settled into a destructive pattern of unwarranted self-criticism and I work to help them understand what can be a neglected track record of success.
