Matt Reiser,
Ph.D

Background:

Dr. Matt Reiser is a licensed psychologist who grew up in Utah and Arizona. He has been living in Cedar City for the last 10 years and has previously lived in Idaho, Kansas, and Brazil. He is board certified in biofeedback by the BCIA, and his clinical interests include anxiety, depression, ocd, adhd, couples counseling, eating concerns, assessments, supervision/training, group therapy, career counseling, sport psychology/sport performance, and biofeedback. He has a passion and goal to help each individual be their best in life and work on personal and therapy goals in a collaborative and supportive environment. He enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 daughters; and they adventure to state and national parks when they can. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with family & friends, music, sports, traveling, the outdoors, and new adventures.

Education and Work Experience:

Matt has been seeing clients in therapy since 2007. He completed his Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from Brigham Young University and has worked at five university counseling centers. He was the Training Director at Southern Utah University CAPS from 2016 to 2022. He has supervised over 40 therapists in training and has completed hundreds of psychological assessments. He has run over 40 semester long therapy groups. He has also been an assessment coordinator, a group therapy coordinator, and has taught university classes in sport psychology and career counseling. He has presented on a variety of clinical topics over the course of his career. He sees clients ages 11 and older. 

Therapy Approach:

Matt uses a variety of therapeutic approaches to address mental health concerns. It depends on the needs and interests of the clients. Foundational theories and therapies he uses include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Client Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Exposure and Response Prevention, and Focused Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (FACT). He has over 15 years of experience helping teens, adults, and couples with their mental health concerns and can discuss what therapy modalities would be best for you.
