Michael Thomas,

Background:
Michael has been married for over twenty years and has four children. He and his wife stay busy supporting their kids’ hobbies. For the past decade, Michael’s found a lot of enjoyment in running. Michael highly values knowledge and strives to continually expand his knowledge of mental health and psychiatric treatment.
Education and Work Experience:
Michael has worked as a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2009 in inpatient, residential, and outpatient settings. He completed his undergraduate course work at the College of Eastern Utah and Utah Valley State College. He completed his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Utah. Michael recently completed a Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Health from the University of Missouri. He has been a professor at Brigham Young University since 2014.
Therapy Approach:
I take a collaborative approach to treatment and seek to integrate positive psychology practices with medication intervention to promote long-term mental health and well-being. Each individual is an expert regarding their life experience and needs. I seek to utilize my training and expertise to empower individuals to make informed decisions about treatment and their recovery process.
