Nathan Walch,
CMHC Student
Background:
As a transplant from California, Nathan still misses the beach and is excited whenever he gets to walk along the shore looking for seashells. His personal hero is Fred Rogers and loves the philosophy that everyone is his neighbor. He recently started crocheting and is trying to build up the courage to make one of Mr. Rogers' iconic sweaters. if his headphones are in, he's probably listening to a good book or enjoying a great song.
Education and Work Experience:
Nathan has spent more than 15 years sitting with college students who are in pain, ostracized, or otherwise alone. This work motivated him to seek a degree in counseling after he finished his doctorate in higher education administration.
Therapy Approach:
Listening to the point of truly seeing another person clearly is a transformative experience, one that Nathan seeks with every client. As a result, his approach is grounded in empathy, acceptance, and genuine curiosity. Over the years, Nathan has learned that by creating an environment where individuals can develop self-compassion, they find the freedom to examine their thinking and make meaningful change.
