Robert was born and raised in Garland, UT. He is the youngest of 7 children. He has been happily married for 19 years and has 5 children who keep him on his toes running to various concerts and sporting events. Robert has a love of being in nature and gardening. His passion for gardening is similar to his passion for working with others. He loves to see people grow and reach their full potential.
Education and Work Experience:
Robert earned a bachelor's degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University. He heas worked in various inpatient and out-patient mental health clinicals in Alabama, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania. Robert has specialties in parenting, couples work, and problematic pornography use. Robert is exc ited to be returning to Utah.
Therapy Approach:
Robert believes that using a multi-faceted approach that meets the unique needs of each client is essential. Robert was trained as a generalist meaning he works with individuals with a variety of presenting problems. He uses empirically supported treatments including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), and parent-child interaction therapy (PCIT). Robert believes that a good therapeutic relationship and a supportive environment are essential elements of effective thearpy.
