Background:
Steven is a Cliinical Psychology PhD Student who was born in Southern California area, and moved to Utah four years ago. He enjoys music, nature and the outdoors, and playing games with friends and family.
Education and Work Experience:
Steven earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California State University, Los Angeles. His clinical experience includes providing in-home behavioral services for individuals with autism and other neurodevelopmental needs, as well as leading group-based social skills interventions for teens and young adults through the UCLA PEERS program. He is currently a Clinical Psychology PhD student at Brigham Young University, where he has received further training in therapy and assessment, with specific training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Therapy Approach:
Steven works with a wide range of youth and their families in developing skills to face challenges together. He employs a collaborative approach that strives to build a strong relationship with clients and adapts to the needs and individuals and their families. He uses a mixed approach of education and practice to develop skills to competent levels, practice those skills in the community, and then further workshop them together to make it as easy as possible to maintain positive outcomes.
