Adam McDonald,

Background:

Adam was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He is a sports and adventure enthusiast who loves to summit mountains in the surrounding areas. He and his marriage partner have two incredible, and adorable young children. Connecting with his family and those he works with in his profession bring him the most meaning and joy in life. 

Education and Work Experience:

Adam received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUU and is currently completing a PhD in Counseling Psychology at BYU. He brings 5 years of clinical training and experience in therapy. He is passionate about group therapy, has co-created educational psychotherapy groups, and serves as group coordinator. 

Therapy Approach:

Honoring and developing compassion for all lived experiences is the framework of Adam’s practice. He recognizes and values that all people come from a valuable and diverse heritage and background. As evidence suggests, Adam believes that the brain is wired to develop and heal in social contexts, particularly in compassionate ones. He integrates research supported therapies, including interpersonal psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) approaches.
