CMHC Student

Background:

Katie was born and raised in Utah and doesn't ever plan on leaving the beautiful mountains and canyons we have in this state. She has been happily married for five years now and has an adorable baby girl. When she's not working or studying, she enjoys photography, being outside, rock climbing, reading, spending time with family and friends, and walking her two corgis.

Education and Work Experience:

Katie received her bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy from the University of Utah. This led her to begin working in inpatient and residential mental health settings, primarily with adolescents. Katie is now working on completing her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Rocky Mountain University.

Therapy Approach:

Katie believes that the therapeutic relationship is key for providing a safe place for healing. With that, she values the use of compassion, empathy, and genuineness within therapy. Katie uses a holistic approach to therapy and looks at each client with unconditional positive regard and acceptance, no matter their background or demographics. She implements multiple evidence based practices such as CBT, DBT, mindfulness, play therapy, and others as needed.
