Rachel Terrazas,

Background:

Rachel was born in Murray, Utah, and spent her high school and college years living on the central coast of California. She has seven siblings, and she enjoys her 15 nieces and nephews who have stolen her heart. Rachel loves adventure and has spent some time living in Texas and Italy. Her current passions are spending quality time with good company, dancing, rock climbing, and anything to do with music (including beat saber).

Education and Work Experience:

Rachel is a licensed ACMHC. She completed a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in criminal justice at California State University Long Beach. Later in life she realized her passion was in mental health services and returned to school to complete a master’s in clinical mental health counseling at Walden University. She acquired an additional specialization in marriage and family therapy. She is certified in eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR).

Therapy Approach:

Rachel has a warm approach and focuses on creating a genuine relationship where her clients can share their struggles and find a supportive ally. She views the client as the expert on themselves and works collaboratively towards their healing and/or development. She takes a holistic approach and enjoys working with diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Rachel integrates a variety of empirically based therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), EMDR, interpersonal, experiential, reality therapy, Gestalt, and play therapy.
