Rhonda Harris,
PhD Student

Background:

Rhonda has lived in several states across the US including TX, MS, MN, and CA. She enjoys living in Provo with her husband, her children, and her backyard chickens. In her spare time Rhonda enjoys breadmaking, yoga, photography, reading, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Education and Work Experience:

Rhonda earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota. She is currently completing a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Brigham Young University. Rhonda has experience working in a community mental health center and has worked as a psychotherapist at BYU’s Counseling Center, helping individual and group clients with a range of concerns.

Therapy Approach:

Rhonda prioritizes empathy and warmth in her work and strives to create a collaborative relationship with clients to help them achieve meaningful goals. She utilizes Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to help clients recognize, allow, and use emotion in healthy ways. She pulls from Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to assist clients in activating compassion towards themselves and others as they navigate life’s challenges. Rhonda also implements techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She works to be culturally humble and sensitive and recognizes the complexity of each clients’ experience.
